Koraigad Fort, also known as Korigad Fort, is a historical hill fort in the Western Ghats of Maharashtra, India. The fort stands at an elevation of around 930 m (3,050 ft.) above sea level. Situated about 20 km away from Lonavala, it is a popular trekking destination for adventure enthusiasts.

Exploring the fort, visitors can see remnants of its past glory, including storage rooms, water tanks, and other structures and immerse themselves in the rich history of the region. The fortification consists of a large plateau surrounded by steep cliffs and fortified walls. It has several bastions and gates that serve as defensive structures. The fortification also includes several gateways and water tanks, indicating the attention given to self-sufficiency during its active periods.

One of the prominent features of Koraigad Fort is the Koraidevi Temple, dedicated to the goddess Koraidevi. The temple attracts devotees, especially during the Navratri festival when a fair is held in its vicinity.

Today, Koraigad Fort is a popular trekking destination and attracts both history enthusiasts and nature lovers. Overall, Koraigad Fort provides a fascinating blend of history, adventure, and natural beauty, making it a must-visit destination for those interested in exploring the rich heritage of Maharashtra.

Detailed Itinerary

Day-wise Schedule

Day 1Pune > Koraigad Fort Trek > Pune

06:00
Once you reach your pick-up point, mark your presence with the SG-Trekkers representative. Then we will travel by private bus to the starting point of the trek.

07:00 – 08:00
An hour of breakfast and tea break. Resume the rest of the journey.

09:30
We arrive at the starting point of our trek i.e. Ambavane village.
Our field experts will provide pre-trek information and instructions to all participants.

09:30 – 15:30
Now, we start the trek towards the Koraigad Fort. We need to ascend around 640 ft. and it took around 2 hrs.

This is a very easy trek. At the beginning of this trek, a path leads us to the stairs. After that, by climbing these steps, we enter the fort through the ‘Maha-Darwaja’. The trail is covered with bushes, making it a refreshing experience.

Exploring the fort, visitors can see remnants of its past glory, including storage rooms, water tanks, and other structures and immerse themselves in the rich history of the region. The fort offers a breathtaking view of nearby forts like Morgiri, Tikona, Tung and Lohgad.

After viewing the fort in its entirety, we will return to the base village by the same route.
