This trek takes you from the peaceful jor village to the popular hill station of Mahabaleshwar, passing through dense Jaoli forest, scenic landscapes and the ancient Bahirichi Ghumati temple.
Initially, the trail descends to the Jor village and passes through the dense forests of Jaoli, known for its rich biodiversity & wilderness. Jor is a small, serene village situated at the foothills of the Sahyadri range. From Jor village, trekking for a few kilometres, we’ll reach Bahirichi Ghumati, a small but sacred spot in the mountains. Dedicated to Bahiri Devi, the temple is a resting point for many trekkers and has a mystical aura.
After Bahirichi Ghumati, we continue on a steep ascent towards the Mahabaleshwar plateau. The path is a mix of rocky terrain and dense vegetation, making it moderately difficult. As you climb higher, the views open up, offering expansive vistas of the Sahyadri ranges and the surrounding valleys. The higher you go, the more rewarding the views become.
The last part of the trek involves a gradual ascent toward Arthur Seat Point of Mahabaleshwar. This section may be the most challenging part due to the steepness, but the panoramic views at the top make the effort worthwhile. You can relax here, take in the views, and enjoy the cool mountain breeze after completing your trek.
In this trek, we experience dense forests, steep slopes and deep ravines. Unlike popular trekking routes in Maharashtra, this trek sees fewer crowds, offering a tranquil experience. This trek also tests your physical and mental abilities.
